Description
Dr Mohan Jayarajah, MB BS, FRCA, FFICM Mohan is a consultant cardiothoracic anaesthetist and intensivist with over 25 years of experience. He was one of the founding clinicians of the SW Cardiothoracic Centre and subsequently led the unit as Clinical Director of cardiothoracic and vascular services for Devon and Cornwall.
He currently also enjoys roles within the Peninsula Medical School and Royal College of Anaesthetists. His research interests range from investigator led international collaborations to assisting industry in developing high tech innovative solutions for cardiac surgery. Notably the publication, in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2017 of the ATACAS group studies (for which he was European Chief Investigator) changed the way cardiac surgical patients are treated world-wide.
He is currently part of a group from the British Heart Foundation, Cambridge and Toronto investigating transfusion after cardiac surgery. He has led the procurement process of large scale infrastructure projects from inception to implementation within the NHS. This governance background together with his research skills demonstrate his commitment and passion for development led by collaboration, analysis and quality.
