The Cardiac ICU at Derriford hospital can be found on “Torrington Ward” located on level 6. CICU has 16 beds managing patients following cardiothoracic surgery as well as selected vascular patients requiring HDU-level care.

Simulation on CICU
We are fortunate to have a high-fidelity simulation mannequin on the CICU which we regularly use to run through emergency protocols as part of staff training. Our faculty include instructors for ALS, CALS and other simulation course.
We also have a TOE simulation mannequin which provides high fidelity TOE simulation for those looking to improve their skills or observe uncommon pathology in a controlled environment.
